 MAKING A DIFFERENCE . . .REACHING OUT

“We can all be angels to one another.  We can choose to obey the still, small stirring within, the little whisper that says, ‘Go. Ask. Reach Out. Be an answer to someone’s plea.  You have a part to play.  Have faith.’  We can decide to risk that He is indeed there, watching, caring, cherishing us as we love and accept love.  The world will be a better place for it.  And wherever they are, the angels will dance.”

Joan Webster Anderson—Author

Making a Difference . . . Reaching Out.  This is the theme that the Stewardship Committee has adopted for 2011-12.  Stewardship involves the wise and heartfelt use of our time, talents, and resources.  Through video vignettes, personal testimonies, newsletter articles, and our web page, we’ll be sharing stories of how people in our congregation are reaching out to change the lives of others.  You’ll also hear from people who have received those gifts and what a difference it has made to them.

We can all reach out, in even the smallest ways, to make the world a better place.  Offer a ride to  someone  who can no longer drive; sweep your neighbor’s sidewalk while you’re doing your own; send a card of make an encouraging call to a person in distress; help pack lunches for the Men’s Shelter; drop off a case or two of water for the homeless at one of the City’s donation centers.  Volunteer to serve on one of the church’s many committees.

Use and act on your imagination to make the world a better place.  Wherever they are, the angels will dance.

How can I make a difference and become a good steward?

  1. Learn about the vision of the ministries of our church in our congregation, the community, and throughout the world.
  2. Give generously of your time, talent, and treasure to help that vison come true.

How do I share my time and talents?

  1. Ask yourself "What is God calling me to do?"
  2. Print and complete the Time and Talent Brochure.
  3. Find out where the most pressing needs are by clicking on Ways to Get Involved.

How do I help fund the ministries and missions that are in the church's vision?

  1. Prayerfully consider how you can help financially.  Your generous offering is always welcome.  We encourage you to complete an Estimate of Giving card, available online and in the church office, that sets up your pledge for the coming year.
  2. You may, instead, complete the Electronic Giving form that provides a convenient way to contribute funds to the church.
  3. Find out about the particular needs of the church through Special Giving and make a direct donation.
  4. Designate your legacy funds through our Planned Giving Program.
