"Faith and American Politics: Liberty and Justice for All."
"What does my faith say about my responsibility in public life, and how can people of faith discuss 'hot button' issues with mutual respect and honesty?" The United Methodist Confer-ence office recommends a course called "Faith and American Politics: Liberty and Justice for All."
This short-term course (12-13 weeks) of study, beginning February 14th, discussion and reflection focuses on the value of faith in the exercise of our citizenship. Through the use of videos and readings, this theme is developed by examining (1) our founders' understanding of liberty and how their founding documents seek to protect our liberty within the government they created to serve the people; (2) the call of Jesus and the prophets for just societies; and (3) diverse Christian responses to these ideas. A key feature of this course is to build small-group learning communities that practice civil discourse.
Rev. Karen Spencer-Barnes and John Groenenboom will facilitate the twelve-session class.
Meets in Room 203-204 - Education Building
