Social Action Projects

SOCIAL ACTION

Red Mountain UMW actively works to support social action projects which are an integral part of achieving the vision of United Methodist Women nationwide.  By participating in these events and projects, we encourage change and awareness for ourselves and the world around us.

PROJECTS

To support our Green Earth Concept, we are collecting tired, old, and clean tennis shoes to be donated to the NIKE Shoe Recycling Project.   You will find a wicker basket in the lobby of the church for your donations.  To learn more about how NIKE recycles the shoes, check out this website:  www.nikereuseashoe.com

Campbell's "Labels for Education" are also a vital part of our giving which supports the Wesley Community Center in Phoenix.  All Campbell's products, including soup labels, are collected to help support the Center purchase valuable items for their programs.  Labels include BIC pen items, Pepperridge Farm, Post Cereals, and V-8 products.  Look for the basket in the church lobby.  To learn more about this program, click on this link:  www.labelsforeducation.com

Serving our community with visits to the Emerald Groves Assisted Living once a month from September to April is an important part of our mission as United Methodist Women.  Our visits enhance the lives of those at Emerald Groves, and our own, by taking time to play games, have refreshments, or just listening to their stories.   It makes a better world for all of us!
